Exhibit A: Official Trailer!

Described by Empire film magazine as “pantwettingly scary”, Exhibit A is an award-winning indie flick (Best UK Feature - Raindance Film Festival 2007) from Ipswich-based Executive Producer Richard J Wood.

Plans are afoot to kick-off a nationwide cinema tour of the film, which was partly-filmed in Suffolk, at a screening in Ipswich early next year in conjunction with Ipswich Film Theatre Trust – watch this space.

In the meantime, wet your pants now by watching the official trailer or stream the full-length version.

Community Blog: Suffolk Youth Theatre Presents The Country Wife!

“We’re doing a play called The Country Wife by a bloke called William Wycherley… If you’ve ever seen The Libertine with Johnny Depp, it’s similar, but not as in-your-face.”

Suffolk Youth Theatre is one of the region’s leading youth theatre companies; involving young people aged 21 and under in innovative and visually exciting shows.

The picture on the right is of Liam Johnston, Aaron Seaman, Joe Reed, Keisha-Paris Banya and Nancy Smith holding their noses aloft in rehersals for the upcoming production of William Wycherley’s classic comedy The Country Wife.

10 Years of IP1 Magazine: Issue 4!

This installment of IP1 magazine, published back in the Summer of 2001, was the last in the series of the photocopied zines and came free with a limited edition CD featuring some of the best local producers of the time, including laid back Ipswich hip hop group Kushti (check out this rare footage of Kushti, featuring the gorgeous Alice Russsell on vocals, performing Taking Hold live at The Loft, Brighton.)

Also featuring on the CD and in a full interview was local Drum n Bass innovator Rob Solomon, the man known as Lexis, Universal Origination or Part II, depending on your musical preference.

In addition, issue 4 featured a quick Q&A with the now mighty Red Eye Records, plus the lowdown on B.A.S.E Records, stockists of vinyl UK House, US and UK garage and trance. Both record suppliers still operate out of Ipswich to this day.

Community Blog: Millionaires By Morning!

“We’ve recently created Millionaires By Morning, a live 7 piece hip hop band, from the shrapnel & lint in our pockets and here is a video of us performing “Pass That” on the night.”

Enjoy this take of Ipswich latest supergroup Millionaires by Morning. Featuring the irrepressible Truth on vocals, these boys have most definitely got the funk, and without doubt look set to be one of Ipswich’s most important bands of 2010. Seemingly made up of bar flies from The Swan, their next definite gig will be on February 4 at the Swan for Rapsploitation Sessions 3rd Birthday extravaganza.

10 Years of IP1 Magazine: Issue 1!

In the run up to the New Year, which will see us kiss goodbye to one decade and flirt outrageously with a new one, I feel it is appropriate to take a little trip down IP1 lane, by uploading all the front covers of issues gone by.

To kick things off, here’s how Issue 1 of IP1 magazine looked back in the year 2000.

Back then, the Ipswich Skatepark Appeal had set themselves the challenge of raising £100,000 to build the skatepark that we all now know and love, Don Con were a small group of hip hop artists living in the area known as ‘IP1’ and Pointing North Films, a newly organised amateur video company, were in the business of making serious Sci Fi / Horror videos.

Community Blog: Interview with Olly ‘The Kid’ Betts

“When I heard I had the chance to interview a rock star, who’s toured around the world, and even Drew Barrymore was star struck by, I became rather nervous. But as I sat there listening to Olly tell me about his family, I realised, he may be one of the friendliest, and most down-to-earth men I’ve ever met.

Olly ‘The Kid’ Betts is drummer for the very cool female fronted rock band The Duke Spirit. IP1 writer, Amy Seabrook, was lucky enough to get the rock star from Suffolk round to her parent’s house for a cup of tea and a chat. Read her interview In The Life of Olly Betts.

Community Blog: Kenai and Immercia at The 16th Birthday Party!

“This week was a good friend of mine’s 16th birthday party; she was lucky enough to have two great bands play there! Immercia and Kenai

If ever a party could be described as rocking, The 16th birthday party was definitely it!
