Rapsploitation Sessions and Lielow and Sketch present…  RapLOWtation!

The marriage of music and art has forever sustained a healthy relationship. The marriage between hip hop and art is an even more celebrated partnership, from graffiti stained walls to the legendary artwork of hip hop’s classic albums, so it is natural that East Anglia’s premier Hip Hop night Rapsploitation Sessions and the East’s most exciting collection of visual artists Lielow & Sketch come together to celebrate it.

RapLOWtation (see what we did, uh huh) aims to remould and innovate the current model of art exhibitions. Whereas your regular art exhibition mostly displays a continuous, stagnant presentation, RapLOWtation will have live painting/drawing from artists of all persuasions, DJs and MCs playing/performing, and an open wall for budding artists to submit and sell their works, much like an open mic at a club/music venue.

The exhibition will circulate around a hip hop theme with the in-house artists creating pieces based on a classic hip hop album of their choice. The artists include Mr Millerchip and Chris Nunn with surprise guest artists to be announced at a later date.

RapLOWtation is inviting artists to send their artwork to: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for the open wall. Submission for the open wall must also have a hip hop theme and be emailed by October 10.

On top of this, Sam Barker, Rapsploitation Sessions official photographer, will be showcasing some of his favourite photos from the nights and the opening night will have live performance from Truth with the Rapsploitation Sessions DJ’s providing the music.

When: October 17 2009 (opening night) 7pm – 10pm |  normal shop opening times the rest of the week.
Where: Black Sheep clothing shop, Ipswich.
Entry: FREE (invite only for opening night)
