Underneath the sky has a flair for work that is somehow simultaneously childlike and yet deeply expressive. In both Pink New York and NY, she takes simple sketches of a familiar skyline and brings them to life with watery blots of colour, the images capturing a sense of joy and tenderness that feature all too rarely in our consideration of urban landscapes. Edgier work such as New York Taxi, with its torn and taped brown paper and spatters of ink, display a good deal more kineticism*. Catch her here before she gets snapped up by Dazed. JR
What other ShowOffs have to say:
Really simple detail but it looks so good! x (Scott Bailey)

*We’re coining the word ‘kineticism’. We guarantee in a few years all the critics will be using it. Truth.
